On the day of the Grand Opening of the
restored stone floor in the main entrance hall at Mount Stewart (post next
Monday), I arrived 2 hours early and was able to go round the lake and I found
the female Swan (pen) sitting on her nest.
However there were 2 interloper Swans on the lake and the cob was kept
very busy trying his best to get rid of them without success.
I am liniking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.
Above
is the cob of the pen on the nest and below is one of the interlopers
and the
cob certainly means business.
Meanwhile the pen sits patiently on her nest.
Many

ReplyDeleteThose interlopers likely don't have a chance. These are beautiful birds.
ReplyDeleteYour photos shows the beauty of these swans, but they can be tough and demanding when they feel threatened.
ReplyDeleteNo fooling... I wouldn't want to get too close to them. That's what long lenses are for! Nice shots, Margaret
ReplyDeleteI never really paid attention to the semi-feral Mute Swans back in the UK but here they are pretty rare.................but still semi-feral!
