I am continuing some of my Malawian photographs and
these were taken again in David’s garden.
This Variable Sunbird was very active looking for food in this bush and
was extremely difficult to photograph. He is moulting and has not receiced all of his beautiful new plumage.
I
am linking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.
Many
thanks for visiting and also for leaving comments.
You got great pictures for such an active bird! If he is this pretty when he is molting, I can't imagine how much more beautiful when he is not. He looks a tiny bit like a humming bird, except that his beak is curved.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful
ReplyDeleteAhhh.... he will be gorgeous when all his feather get in! Wonderful shots. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteHello Margaret, the sunbird is beautiful. Awesome photos. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI love that first shot. He's a beautiful bird, even in the moulting stage.
ReplyDeleteI guess he was hiding since he wasn't in full array yet.
ReplyDeleteI can see why this bird is shy about being photographed since it has not fully molted.
ReplyDeleteSuch fantastic vibrant colours
ReplyDeleteWith those brilliant colors,he looks somewhat like a Hummingbird.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sunbird - the colours are stunning :)
ReplyDeleteVariable is certainly an appropriate part of this beautiful bird's name. I have never heard of a sunbird. I would love to see one. Great photos, especially since you say it was hard to catch.
ReplyDeleteLovely colors. Can only imagine the beauty when in full plumage.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird!
