SATURDAY CRITTERS - Black Guillemot

The other day I went down to the pier in my town and found these Black Guillemots in the harbour.  They are here to nest in the nest holes in the pier. They seemed to have paired up and I a sure will be breeding soon.

I am linking this post with SATURDAY CRITTERS.

PS.  Since publishing this post, I have decided to show you a VIDEO on them walking on Bangor Pier on Tuesday's post (WB Wednesday) as they are so comical.

Many thanks for your visit and also to all who leave comments.

  9. Beautiful and interesting birds to have so close by. How did the holes get into the piers? I assume they were intentionally placed to attract these birds.

    1. Black Guillemots have been nesting in Bangor MAny many years and used to use the old pier. However this is a new pier and when being build, they built into it the 3 feet long nest holes. Since that time, more and more B. Guillemots are coming to bred here and more nest boxes have been added on another pier next to this one.

  13. I don't think we have any birds like that here in the U.S. I mostly see just cardinals, blue jays, and some wrens. Geese when they travel
