The other day, I guided Ben and Henrietta from Holland for a day's birding and of course firstly I took them to Bangor pier to see our Black Guillemots. It was a glorious morning, sunny with blue skies and no wind and lots of Guillemots around. They were thrilled to be able to get very close to them and really we could have stayed there all day but I eventually was able to prise them away to continue the day's birding. That story and photos will have to wait for another day.

'Come on Margaret, let's go for a walk!' |
Above is just a few of the photographs I took but I thought you might like to try and see them as we did so I took a number of video clips and have make this little film. You will hear Ben on it as he did not know I was taking it and in the background Henriette who was completely deaf but was able to speak in Dutch and I was able to communicate with her with the help of Ben so that she enjoyed the day as much as we did. So, without anymore ado, sit back and enjoy the video.
If you are unable to watch it from my blog, go on to youtube and type in

Hi Yes i agree, facsinating. Have a great weekend Margaret
DeleteHi Margaret, I'm sure your Dutch visitors had a very enjoyable and informative time. Lovely to see the Guillemot's, Living in a completely land-locked area I would have to travel many miles to see sea birds. Beautiful photos and video.
ReplyDeleteI also particularly enjoyed your June 4th post with the Reed Buntings and Meadow Pipits. Fabulous photos, you got so close! I can rarely get that close and have to crop heavily which reduces the quality, I do have long lenses but they are sooo heavy! The photos were also nice and sharp, do you use a tripod?
Hope you enjoy your weekend away and that the weather stays good. Best wishes Jan.
HI Jan Yes the Dutch couple enjoyed the day. They contacted me becasue of my blog!1 Wasn't that neat! anyway, Many thanks for all your wonderful comments. It is very nuch appreciated. No ttripod, lumix FZ38 camera. I do sometimes crop when necessary. I decide ages ago I was bird watcher first adn a photographer second so I actually changed a bigger camera for a lighter one as I carry a talescope, tripod adn bioculars as well!!! Have a great weekend. Margaret

ReplyDeleteThey do resemble little penguins! Great post! Thanks for stopping by my place and leaving your lovely comment. I wanted to email you back to answer your questions, but you have a "No Reply" on your email message, so I have answered your questions on my post right below your comment. Thanks for asking and have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the Guillemots, and I loved the video. Those birds are quick on their feet, aren't they??? ha... cute!
ReplyDeleteYou asked about the fragrance of our roses. When we order, we always order the most fragrant ones. But, you are right. Some smell much better than others. Oh how I love to smell roses though, don't you?
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Betsy Many thanks for your comments and answer to my question. Roses grow well here in Northern Ireland. Margaret
