is it a snake or some sort of eel in the bird's mouth? Either way, it's going to enjoy it's treat, have a nice week.
I hadn't thought about snakes- but there are harmless garter snakes I've seen around the wetlands, and I imagine our herons would scarf them right up.
I don't think the snake had a chance with that Heron. Perhaps that is a harmless garter snake? Wonderful photos catching all the action.
An excellent breakfast for the bird, and excellent photos for us.
