SATURDAY CRITTERS

It resembles a mix between a turkey and a dove and is notorious for its loud and rambunctious call, which starts slow but gradually grows in pitch until it reaches a fevered note. In Costa Rica, someone who talks a lot is known as a chachalaca.

  2. That's so fascinating! I had never heard of a chachalaca before, but the detail about its loud call is so vivid. It's really cool to learn about the way the name is used in Costa Rica. It makes so much sense. Thanks for sharing this fun bit of trivia.
