I photographed this man and Heron at a small lake, hoping to catch a fish near Kirkubbin, Co Down. I wonder which one caught a fish first?
I suspect it was the heron. I hope it was the heron - who depends on its fishing to survive.
The heron doesn't appear to be too interested in eating at the moment. I'll vote for the human.
I am betting on the Heron to be the best fisherman. They are great birds to watch.
When we used to take the children fishing at the dock on vacation, a heron would come and wait as he knew he'd get any of the fish too small for us to keep. He was always polite and we kept our distance, respectful of that very sharp beak.
