WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Mute Swans at Broad Water

I mentioned yesterday, when I showed you shots of Sue and I as we walked along the tow path at the Broad water near Moira that we came across a cygnet with a disfigured wing so today  I will show you it.

Before I show you anymore of the Swans I will show you  some Mallard and other than Coot and Moorhen and a couple more adult swans there were no more water birds.

First of all when we came across the Swans, the adults and 4 cygnets were sound asleep on the other bank of the river.

Then the cygnet with the odd wing woke up but at this point I thought it would be OK.

When we were returning back on the tow path one of the adults and the cygnet with the disfigured wing were on the water.

When the cygnet came closer to us and saw the wing I was worried that this cygnet may not be able to fly when the time came.  I do hope it will be OK.

I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WESNESDAY.

Many thanks for visiting and also to all who leave comments.

  1. The mallard picture is so pretty. The poor cygnet. I wonder if it some animal or other bird attacked it, or if it is a birth defect. Quite often birds like this will be pushed out of the nest and ignored. They don't last long on their own. So bravo for this one, and for the mom and siblings!! Let us know if it can fly! That is, if you ever see it flying.

  9. Your blog is utterly fantastic. I live in the country near the lake and raise chickens. Love the close up pictures you have of their gorgeous feathers. Love these swans only I have to got 80 miles to see swans close up. Yesterday the honking geese flew so low I felt as if I could reach up and touch them. Oh my how well you show the wonders of this world.
