Time
for Weekend Reflections and The Weekend Roundup and this week the letter is A and Architecture. This is my eldest granddaughter ANNA on a beach when we visited South AFRICA. I cannot leave my other granddaughter out and especially as on this day as it was taken was ANNIKA's birthday.
I have just arrived back from a holiday in Scotland and today
I am showing you the Campbeltown Picture House, designed by ALBERT V Gardner of Glasgow in 1913, is
of the School ART Nouveau style, it
is a A Listed building and one of
the earliest surviving purpose-built cinemas in the UK.
The
cinema was totally refurbished in December 2017 to it original design.
In the foyer of the cinema stands an Mercury ARC Rectifiers.
The cinema is overlooking the harbour and I end with
this boat called ALASKA and my REFLECTION
image.
Thank
you for visiting and also for leaving comments.
Annika is so gorgeous and joyful!!!! Hers is my favorite picture.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your granddaughters are beautiful - and as always your reflection is stunning.
ReplyDeleteDelightful theater, interesting info on the lamp.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics, Great to read.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little theater! Nice post, have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLong may such building be protected and (better still) used.

You have nice grandkids, Margaret. Yes, I think it was time for a visit with Annika. I was intrigued with the mercury arc, but I am sure glad now that we have solid state components to get direct current, DC. But now also, most electric motors run off AC. I learned electricity and electronics in the Army for maintenance and repair of radars and computers. After as a civilian I worked as an Aerospace Engineer with experience in lieu of a degree at NASA (Houston) Johnson Space Center.
ReplyDelete..
I hope you had a good time in Scotland - love the old picture house. Your grandchildren look as though they are enjoying themselves :)
ReplyDeleteThat restored cinema is a jewel.
ReplyDelete...nice to enjoy the beach to yourself. Our granddaughter Emma love to read the Wimpy Kid books. I love the term Picture House. Thanks Margaret for stopping by, I hope that you are enjoying your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe first shot is awesome. Annika is my favorite, possibly because my daughter is a redhead. I might be a little partial. It's nice the theater was refurbished instead of demolished. Nothing like the old ones.
