Costa Rica was basically a colony of the United Fruit Company for many years. That hasn't been the case for a few decades, but it's certainly why Costa Rica is as Americanized as it is. Oh yes--- believe it or not, the United Fruit Company is now the United Salad Company. More stuff grown in more areas.
