FRIDAY'S HUNT and WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

Today I am linking with Friday’s Hunt and Weekend Reflections.  This week the letter is V, favourite and Inch.  We visited the VAN Gogh Museum however it was the only museum that did not allow photography so these are the only images I have of Van Gogh’s work (prints)

V is also for VEHICLES.  So today I am showing you the many VEHICLES that the people used around Amsterdam.

According to the most recent figures, the 850.000 residents (442.693 households) of Amsterdam together own 847.000 bicycles. That represents 1.91 bicycles per household. 78% of people 12 years and older owns at least one bike. Bonus fact: each year between 12,000 and 15,000 bikes are fished up from city's canals.

Bikes rule the road (it seemed) in Amsterdam and you were is great danger of being run over by one!

Also in connection to my photographic challenge I mentioned to you on Monday’s post were I was taking shots to illustrate the word AMSTERDAM, these are some more that I could consider.  M - MODE of T - Transport.

Lots of Canal cruisers going up and down the whole day long.
We took a day time and an evening cruise.

T – TRAM and T- TRAMLINES

M - Marijuana Museum

E – Electric car

Has anyone ever seen a gold car before?

T – Tragic or T- TOO late to TOUR

These are two of our party at the gates of the VONDEL Park where we bird watched and walked.  This is a REFLECTION image of a Coot.

It you do not understand what my challenge is all about CLICK here for Monday's post.

Lastly an image of INCH Abbey.

The first monastery was established on the northern banks of the river Quoile, near Downpatrick, Northern Ireland in 800 AD and was known as Inis Cumhscraigh. Nothing remains of the early monastery, but traces of the Early Christian earthworks enclosure can be seen on aerial photographs. The setting is really beautiful and you can see why the Anglo-Norman knight John de Courcy established the Cistercian abbey here in c.1180.

Many thanks for visiting today and also for leaving comments.

  2. So that truck has marijuana in it? I imagine it is legal in Amsterdam. Glad you at least got some Van Gogh pictures! I believe the one is of his old room. Amazing about the bikes! I love that big red boat.

  9. Recognized that Van Gogh as soon as I saw it. We toured the museum when we stopped in Amsterdam for a couple of days. Boats and bikes seemed familiar.

  13. I do love that sunflower piece by Van Gogh - one of my long-time favourites. The bicycles are amazing - what an array! I am hoping to get out for some cycling here soon, but the rain keeps stopping me, not to mention having too much work on my desk!

  15. Great to see the familiar sights of Amsterdam, Margaret! Did my first year of psychology at the Free University there (commuting from the East of Holl.). Which caused me/us to move to the States, to pursue a more hands on training in psy. Love Amsterdam's city atmosphere. Have never seen the red canal cruiser - makes me smile. Thanks for the pleasant memories!

  16. I like Van Gogh also. We stayed at St. Remy, Provence, France for the better part of a week. I should have reposted the picture I took of his Olive Orchard there. I even caught his mountains in the yonder.
Also I like your Sunday's post, Romans 5:6. Just at the right time. Have you thought about what if He chose now for coming? First, we don't sacrifice animals now. That would be hard to understand Jesus' need to sacrifice. It goes on from there.
