Little Owl

A friend sent me this photograph that was taken on holidays in England.  I was nearly green with envy as we do not see the Little Owl here is Northern Ireland.

The Lirrle Owl is usually 22 centimetres (8.7 in) in length with a wingspan of 56 centimetres (22 in) for both sexes, and weighs about 180 grams (6.3 oz).

Many thanks for visiting

and for all the comments you leave on this post.

  1. Owls are rigth up there with my most favourite birds. And my eyes are a tad green too.

  2. His real name is the Little Owl? He is so cute, he must be very small. And he is looking right at us!

  4. There is a little owl that visits the town with Kilton Raptor rescue...he sits mainly in his little box scowling out with a fierce expression.

  5. What a beautiful photo of the Little Owl. Last night we had the Spotted Eagle-owl sitting on the children's jungle gym just 5m from my bedroom window. I tried to take a photo of it, but Ambrose kept pushing the window open and I didn't want to frighten the owl. At least we heard it all night!

  6. He reminds me of a stuffed toy -- so sweet and what an amazing photo. He does look a bit like the burrowing owls we see in Florida, but this one being in a tree makes it even more special.
