WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Castle Espie Ducks and Geese

I visited WWT at Castle Espie last Saturday and these Eider ducks were in tip top form all displaying to the females who mostly appeared to be taking no interest in them, in fact quite a few were sleeping!!! At the end I have added a video of Snow Geese and Red-breasted Geese preening and having a bath.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these ducks and geese.

  2. The eider ducks are gorgeous! I know they are the source of eider down, the finest and softest padding for jackets and pillows. I hope they are not killed just for this purpose. So beautiful.

  10. They are handsome ducks indeed ... funny how they go to all that work only to be ignored (only that will be temporary, so I suppose it's just practice)

  16. Great images of such unusual ducks, Margaret. Really wish I'd seen the eiders when I lived in the UK, though I am happy with my memory of the lovely tufted ducks in the London ponds.
