WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Boat Trip on Shire River at Mejete

As Judith, my daughter and I made our way across the Shire River in Malawi 2014, these are some of the birds we saw from the boat.  There is the Grey Hornbill, African Openbill(L) & African Darter (R), White-crested Helmetshrike, Brown-headed Parrot and finally a video of White-faced Whistling Ducks in flight.

If the video does not appear,CLICK HERE.

I am linking with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these birds and I have some more to show you next Tuesday, (WBW.)  This year  when I was in Malawi, Judith and  I did a canoe safari which was wonderful and some time in the future you will see those posts.

Many thanks for your visit and also to all those people who leave comments.

  1. Judging by the stripes on that rock, it is a favoured perch.
Lovely photos as always of birds I will probably never see. Thank you.

  15. Firstly Margaret, I love your Puffin header. It fantastic!
I also enjoyed seeing all of your photo's... especially the hornbill, which reminded me of my time living in Brunei and the hornbill's flying in every afternoon and early evening to feed near our house. It was a spectacular sight.
    Thanks for sharing

  16. Those birds are awesome, and they are so big. I am amazed most specially with the big black birds. I guess food is abundant in that area. Thanks also for dropping by my site.

  19. Have you reached the point where you can actually name these birds as you see them or do you need to look them up once you download the pictures like me. Of course it has been awhile since I have traveled so I haven't had to use my book in some time. These are most interesting birds ... none of which I have heard of or seen before. Though I will probably never remember the names, I am grateful to you for showing them to me ... I so love nature and all it's diversity :)
