Blessingbourne House Carriage Museum (Part 8)

For this post from Blessingbourne Carriage and Costume Museum it provides the perfect portal into the past and I will be showing you an unique collection of original carriages and coaches, buggies and a genuine Romany caravan. I have had to divide the post in 2 and you can see the second part this Wednesday.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these beautiful carriages and that you will look in again on Wednesday to see what other things I photographed from the past.

  1. Wonderful. Love that Romany Caravan in particular. I hope that he got the thin end of his wife's tongue...

  2. How interesting, Margaret! The Trap and Doctor's Buggy look mighty uncomfortable. As a young girl, I used to read romantic stories about the gypsies. When I visited England, I noticed an aversion and definite hostility towards modern day gypsies. Have a great day, my friend. Greetings, Jo

  10. Margaret I still see one of those gypsy caravans around here from time to time. i think they are genuine travellers who like to do it the old way. I enjoyed those photos a lot. Not sure I'd like to travel from London to Oxford in the stage coach though. It quicker and more comfortable via the motorway.

  20. So many types of carriages and buggies! So interesting! When Mom & I visited Ireland we rode with our tour group on a larger version jaunting car...so much fun! Our guide was a delight! And the views! Loved seeing inside the gypsy caravan! I've always wondered what they were like inside! Very efficient design...though I know sometimes families of six or eight would be living in that space!
