SATURDY CRITTERS - Birds at Makuzi Beach Lodge

These images were difficult to photograph as the birds were mainly deep in the reeds so this is the best I could do.  I  videoed a weaver finishing off building its nest at the end of the post.

African Firefinch

Lesser striped Swallow

The first clip is a bit blurred however keep watching the determination of this little bird in achieving the material that he needs for his nest.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these birds at the Makuzi Beach Lodge.

If you did not see my 2nd Anniversary Blog on Tuesday, I show a marvellous video (not mine) showing how a Weaver bird builds a nest from scratch.

Thank you for your visit and also to those you leave comments.

  12. I love the bright yellow color of the weaver and it was very interesting to watch how hard the bird shredded the tree branches to make its nest!

  19. The colors are beautiful here. The grasses and the Weaver and Swallow. What an amazing gift from God, to weave their own houses.

  20. Great selection of photos! That may be the most beautiful swallow I've ever seen.

A lot of Australian bird families evolved in Africa, so it's interesting to see the sister-species of birds I'm already familiar with like the Mannikins.

  21. Awesome pics, Margaret. I know it's hard to get good pics of birds in the weeds, and that's what makes them all the more worthwhile.

  27. Hello Margaret!:) A good selection of birds, many of which I have never seen before. The Firefinches and the Swallows are pretty with that touch of red in their feathers, and the Weaver continues to fascinate with his bird nest skills.
