Guinea Fowl in Ward Park, Bangor, Northern Ireland

Ward Park is 2 minutes’ walk away from my house and I often walk through it to get to the town centre.  The Guinea Fowl freely roam around the park and there are 9 of them although last year I think there were 11!   I count them every time I walk in the park.  They have been Guinea Fowl and Peacocks since I was a child in this park.

  3. Oh wow that's amazing that these Guinea Fowl are just in your local park and also Peacocks! I think I have only seen Peacocks in the zoo x

  4. Good to see they have taken priority over the peacocks for once.

  5. The bird in the second image, it's plumage reminds me of sorts of a Barn Owl. Is there history/reason how these ended up in the park?

    1. when I Mum was a girl. this was part of a big estate. the House is still there and is out Town Hall. My grand father had cows and a milk business and she used to take the milk 'up to the big house' every day. The family always had Guinea Fowl and Peacocks. There are actually 2 parks, one is called ward Park and the other is called Castle Park and nowadays a road separates them but all the land is open to the public.

  14. I have never seen any like this. The feathers are beautiful, but I can't say the same for the face. Do they make a noise? Wonderful pictures of birds not anywhere here!

  18. Good Mornin' Margaret! What a beautiful day, although here in Florida it's raining - but even that has its own beauty.

My Grandmother always kept Guinea Fowl as they made excellent watch "dogs", alerting her to predators or anyone coming onto the property.

Lovely post and I really enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing!

(FYI: Your video worked just fine for me.)
