Throwing a pot in Malawi!

For those who follow my blog, you will know that we are staying at Nkhota-Koto Pottery Lodge and now it is time to show you the main reason we were there.  Judith and Annika wanted the experience of throwing a pot and Daniel wanted in on the act.  I was sent for to take photos and I mostly took video which you can see at the end of this post.

Annika above and Daniel below were much better on the wheel  than their Mum and there was much laughter all round.

CLICK HERE if the video does not appear. it may be a bit long but I have also made it for the family and believe me if you see it to the end, my daughter did manage a good pot in the end!

I hope you enjoyed this post and on Wednesday you will see what they made and how they painted their pots.

I hope you enjoyed this usual post and I thank all those who visit and leave comments.

  1. Love the video, and your first picture the best! The children are natural, but mum is a bit hesitant. I imagine it takes a whole lot of practice and learning.

  2. What fun! I took pottery classes once. My results were a little strange looking and I realized I would never be a master of the art. Thank you for sharing these lovely photos and video.

  3. This is something I've always wanted to try. I hope some day to have a chance. It was lovely to see all different ages making the pots.I'm sure all of them did better than I would, lol. Practice makes perfect :-)

  15. I had a disaster in pottery class in high school....................my 'mug' was a misshapen useless lump of a vessel incapable of doing anything. A bit like me, my wife might say............
