WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - Bembridge Reflections

On Boxing Day I posted one shot of an old building at Bembridge and I animated it and quite a number of you asked how I did it   This first shot below reminded me of what you had asked so at the END OF THIS POST I will tell you how I achieved it very easily.  All of the lakes were frozen giving lovely reflections and some of the water you will see is slowly thawing.

These are Mallards standing on the frozen water.

Some Coots have found some water that has defrosted.

Several Moorhen were in the reeds.

These are shots from the other side of the path, the first one above is my attempt at taking a panoramic shot.

A far off Grey Heron above and some Shoveler below with a Black headed gull.

OK, yesterday you were all very clever to see the Buzzard, so today can you ID this bird above?  It was sitting on the tree but when I raised my camera, he flew away.  I will tell you the answer tomorrow!  There is a tell tale sign as a clue!

For me that day started off well by seeing the 'bird' above and then an even bigger treat was when I watched a March Harrier for 10 minutes searching for food over the reeds.  Unfortunately it was too far away to get any decent shots.

Buzzard in tree above with a couple of Cormorants in the tree to the right and Canada geese below.

These are Canada Geese however I have a video at the end showing you Dark bellied Brent geese in flight.

Now to tell you how I added the animation.
CLICK HERE for web site or just put LunaPic into Google.
When in the site, upload your photo and apart from the water reflection there are lots of other animations as well as many more things you can try.  ENJOY!

I hope you enjoyed this post and I leave you this time with the front of the old building in the water animation shot.

  2. That is an awesome effect with the animation, because it's very subtle and thus more effective. I like it.

  21. I was quite stunned by the first picture of mallards, cause the water doesn't look frozen, and strange thoughts came into my mind by looking at it... I like the old brownstone factory : the way it stands in the water gives quite an atmosphere to your pics.

  23. Thawing ... your lakes are thawing? How can that be ... our's are just freezing. Theywill be ice fishing on them soon. Oh my ... I am envious :) Love your old building and the prairie and water shots ... I don't know the buzzards of the UK but I can tell you that this bird is a buteo ... has all the same dimentions as our Red Tail Hawk which is our most common buteo. Beautiful bird though ... glad you were able to catch him in flight. As for your animation info ... Thank you, Thank you. I went over there, but there is so much to explore I decided to wait until I had something to play with, then see what I could do. Looks like great fun. Have a wonderful weekend, Margaret ...

  26. I agree the water didn`t look frozen & I was amazed at the mallards "walking on water" like Jesus!
I was going to say the bird looked like a red shouldered hawk, but that cannot be correct.
I enjoyed all of your pictures, I love old buildings & the last one with the water moving it felt like I was there, thanks for sharing, phyllis
