SATURDAY CRITTERS and CAMERA CRITTERS - Birds and Baboons Around Montford Cottage, Malawi

On this Malawian trip we are staying for a few days at Montfort Cottages and these are ALL the images I took when I walked down the road early in the morning.


Masked Weaver


Red- headed Weaver


Pied Kingfisher


Little Bee-Eater


Grey–rumped Swallow


Laughing Dove



Blue Waxbill and Red–billed Firefinch (top right)


Fish Eagle sub adult

I will be doing a post on this Fish Eagle on the next Wild Bird Wednesday which I will publish on Tuesday, (my UK time).

  6. What a lovely selection today Margaret. The Masked Weaver is very beautiful with that gorgeous red eye.The Pied Kingfisher is one bird I remember with affection from Africa, a guaranteed bird almost everywhere. I look forward to seeing lots more pictures of fish eagles.

  10. The Masked Weaver has such lovely colors, and I like the red eye which is like the eyes of my local towhee. All the birds are so cute and must be fun to watch. I like the doves, they always have such sweet and gentle personalities. Once again I am admiring your bravery in photographing the baboons, perhaps I am overly suspicious of their aggressive capabilities. They are amazing animals.

  17. The masked weaver looks like a spot of sun with its bright yellow feathers. I would much rather run into it than the large baboons!

Kingfisher & Eagle stole my heart. such great critters to share. also wanted to say loved the photos Jon shared from Africa. how cool it was they were so close and personal with that elephant. so much beauty in Africa. i'd love to go one day. i also enjoyed your Sunday post. i do believe God sets us on a path that's just for us and gives us the right people to guide us along. have a great day~
