GOOD FENCES - Horses at Garlic Farm

These 2 shots below where taken when I crossed the line to go into Brading Marsh and I will show you the birds I found there on Saturday.  However today I am showing you the photos I took when I visited the Garlic Farm where my daughter Gillian told me you could see Red Squirrels when having refreshments.  Sounded good to me.

On the hill opposite the Garlic Farm I photographed these 3 horses sitting in the row, then looked back at the farm and saw 2 Buzzards and managed one very bad shot.

Can you even find the Buzzard?

I am looking forward to exploring this part of
the garlic farm next time I visit the island.

I went into the Garlic shop below and had never seen as many types of garlic however I was here to see the Squirrels and asked where they were. I saw a lady look through a small window and thought that was probably what she was looking at, however it wasn’t.

Through the window were these beautiful Peacocks.

I had made one big mistake.  As it was New Year Eve, the world and his wife had decided to visit that day and so I decided not to go any further around the property but leave it to visit the next time I come to the Isle of Wight.

Just to let you know that tomorrow on Weekend Reflections I will be telling you how to animate a photograph as some of you asked me to.

I hope you enjoyed the fences, birds and animals in this post and I thank you all for visiting.

Many thanks for all the comments you leave.  I appreciate them all.

  5. The white peacock is certainly different and equally as beautiful as the more usual blue one! Looks like a fun place to visit and tho I usually avoid gift shops, I would have bought something garlicky if this place had one, because we like to cook with it.

  6. What an extremely interesting place. Great photos Margaret! Those horses were lovely, the chickens too but oh those peacocks, what a treat to see them, especially the white one as I haven't seen one of those in years. When I was working I once saw a white peacock cross the road in the distance. I couldn't believe my eyes. I never did see it again, even though I was on the lookout for months afterwards. Thank you for sharing this lovely visit.

  10. Must have been really cold Margaret, they don't usually break out the horse coats until it's seriously cold. Yes I did see the buzzard, nice capture.

  16. What an awesome post today, one of your very best! A special white peacock! I have heard that this is not an albino, but there are just white peacocks. I LOVE the horses all laying down in a row and wearing coats. I don't think I have ever seen a blog post a horse laying down. and not even in their barn!! My husband says he has never seen horses lay down in a row like this, and he is a farm boy, too. They just chose to lay down in the middle of a field. That is kind of strange. Weirdly wonderful! I would LOVE to go to this Garlic Farm with you, so much fun.

  17. What a wonderful place to visit. Garlic is so pungent but I do like the flavor. I didn't realize there were so many varities though. I enjoyed your tour and photos. To bad about not seeing the Squirrels but those Peacocks were lovely. We have both varities in our bird Aviary at the park here and I love them. I enjoyed the shots of the 3 horses all bundled up, the train tracks and yes I did spot the buzzard in the photo. - A super fun post.

  18. I did indeed enjoy the Garlic farm and all of it's critters ... sorry no squirrels, but if you are going back, I am sure you will find some. I love garlic, use it in my cooking every day, but never thought about growing my own. I wonder if I could do that? I will have to look into it :) The peacocks are so gorgeous ... I wonder what God was thinking when he created them. And yes, I spotted the buzzard very easily ... it really isn't such a bad shot. Thank you for this lovely post and I will be back tomorrow to see how you animate a picture ... Have a wonderful and hopefully warm day, Margaret ...

  22. What wonderful photos, Margaret! I love railroad tracks and these make your fences even lovlier! The horses in the blankets (each, a horse of a different color...lol!) is something you don't see too often around here, although I have a time ot two...the one laying down all the way concerned me...is he OK? It's not often you see one laying down either! Garlic Farm looks like a place I'd very much like to visit...and yes, I do see that buzzard :)

  31. And a train runs through it! Love railroad tracks. Yes, I found the buzzard. I've had to find the bird in some shots I've taken! They have a way of disappearing on the big screen. The horses look cozy in the blankets, the peafowl were beautiful, and I love seeing the varieties of chickens.

I figure Vampires will keep away from the town with the Garlic Farm, minimally :)
