WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - DUBLIN ZOO

Today I am still showing photographs from Dublin Zoo with my new camera without ANY editing done.  Lumix Panasonic DMC FZ 200 and mostly shot in auto mode  Although they may not be any reflections in the video at the end, as you can see from shot 1 & 2, these animals are surrounded by water and there was reflections all around them but I preferred to show you closer shots of the Sulaweai crested Macaque monkey.

Sulaweai crested Macaque monkey.
These pink bottomed monkeys come from Sulaweai Island in Indonesia.  Their hair is sleek except for the punk like crest on top of their head.

Coot

Mute Swan and Black headed Gulls

Elephant

Tufted Duck

Sorry, my video will not load onto the post today.  I do not know whether it is youtube or blogger causing this problem however if you put the below web site into your server, you can still see the video.

I have found another easier solution to seeing the video.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

I know how a lot of you feel about these animals in Zoo's however as I hear about more and more animals possibly becoming extinct, I am wondering if this is the only way we will keep some of them. Yesterday I heard that there were only 15 breeding females of the smallest Dolphins in the world left!

I am linking this post with WEEKEND REFLECTIONS

Thank you for visiting.

Many thanks for all your comments.

  1. I have a Lumix too, great cameras. The whole question of zoos is a difficult one, but they do do a great deal of conservation work as you say. Enjoy the weekend x

  2. I love these pictures! I have a Canon G-15 I like a lot, but it's not great for covering much distance.

  3. That must be one terrific zoo!! I just know I could spend hours there myself. Your photos, as always, are super.

Remember those days when you had to set everything on the cameras manually? I love the auto focus mode on the new digitals.

  7. Love seeing the monkey and the water birds. I believe Zoos have their place in the world, but there is so many ways of improving their "inhabitants" lives....it is a question of money, as always.

  20. Loved your pictures, but You-Tube wouldn't let me see your video ... had a frowning face and said sorry this video is private. "But, I came by invitation" ... sadly they didn't respond! Hope you can fix it because I would love to see more. Interesting that you have a Lumix Panasonic ... let me know what you think of it after you have used it for awhile. It is certainly taking good pictures so far :)

  25. I'm not too fond of zoo, usually, but I find this one quite pleasant : animals seem to have a lot of personal space, and don't look too anxious... Of course it would be so much better to photography them in the wildness, but... Well, you know what I mean.

    Nice serie of reflections.
