SATURDAY CRITTERS - LIONS WITH 4 MONTH OLD CUB

Today I am still showing photographs from Dublin Zoo with my new camera.  All the shots of the Asian Lion were taken through glass as you will see and although there is a facility on the camera to deal with that, I could not remember where it was quickly enough at the time.  I was sorry I had not thought ahead to discover where this facility was on the camera to see what difference it would have made to the shots.  An opportunity missed!

This is the 4 month old Lion cub which you will see what he gets up t on the video at the end of this post.

The whole family.

I hope you enjoyed this post.  I know I could have edited the glass out however on this occasion I chose not to.

I am sorry the video will not embed on my blog but if you put either of the below into your server, you will not be disappointed.

I know this is a pain but it  will be worth it.

However I have found an easier way for you.

    1. HI Adrian I know what you are saying but then nowadays they have a greater chance of being hacked down and killed by poachers. It is still big business in these African countries and as I been in quite a number of safari park over the 6 week period and talking to people who know, and try to put a stop to these cruel action, they are really worried if it cannot be stopped, they animals WILL become extinct in the wild. I hate to think of this happening so the generations to come.

    2. They could fence off a bit of Salisbury plane or any other defunct military land and just let them loose. Either feed them or pop a few deer in with them. I hate seeing such magnificent animals behind bars.

  10. Love the lions Margaret, it's where I head for first whenever I go to the Zoo.. Seriously in nearly all of these images you wouldn't know there was glass there, your camera did a brilliant job! You're right, the video was fab, nice to see a happy family :)

  11. Asain lions ... who knew? They look just like the African Lions which are magnificent as well. I love how the cub has all ot the instinctual moves of an adult on a hunt and the male makes his rounds marking his territory. Captivity makes me a little sad, but where else are you going to see a fat female lion. Great pictures and video, Margaret.

  17. What a special treat, and they are not your ordinary lions! The baby is so cute, but almost at the stage when he won't be. Unusual that the females do the hunting. i think with most animals, the female takes care of the young and the male does the hunting. So they are liberated lions!

I prefer your pictures ; at least the one you photographied are not behind bars, and have a lot more space to live... (I'm really not a big fan of circus, because of the way animals are usually maltreated in them)
