GOOD FENCES - Game Haven Park ride - Malawi

I am still posting about the Game Haven Park, near Blantyre when I visited it on my 2nd day in Malawi.  Now for this post, you will have to think , “out of the box” for some shots. Below is the main building/restaurant.

Now this is where you have to think ‘out of the box’!  This the vehicle we travelled round the safari park in and we were told not we were to get out so we were “fenced” in!

Annika

 Daniel

                                                        Judith

Daniel took this shot of me. Do you see the Giraffe?

There are only 2 Giraffes in this park and the small one is pregnant.

Then we came to 2 Giraffe and the guide asked the children would they like to get out.  Bravely they jumped at the chance but when asked to stand with their backs to the Giraffes they did not seem to be so happy and quickly got in again!  Daniel was protecting his little sister in this shot.

On our way back and nearing the restaurant, amazingly there was a Golf Course and these ladies were hand picking the weeds from the grass on a very hot day!  We stopped to say hello and I think they were pleased.

Just threw this shot is in as he is saying,

" That's all for now, however more about me, later on.  If that lady with the camera can get her act together and do the editing, she may have the post done for Saturday Critters this week"!!

I am linking this post with GOOD FENCES.

Hope you enjoyed this post.

Many thanks for visiting.

Many thanks to all those bloggers who comment.

  3. Love the giraffe. And feel for those poor women weeding. It reminded me of women mending the road in India - in glorious coloured saris - also in almost impossible heat.

  9. Lovely post, Margaret. That fence is rather high off the ground. Wonder what is keeps out? Love the close-up of the giraffe. They have such comical expressions. I'm not surprised your grandchildren weren't too keen to turn their backs on a giraffe. This tall animal has a vicious kick and I'd not trust one with hormone displacement - such as the preggy one! I loved the local ladies. They are so colorfully dressed - and like Tanzanians: willing to work. Have a great day. Jo

  11. Nice fence although it wouldn't keep Fergus inside the yard. Maybe it is to keep big critters our. Love the giraffe.

  14. The golf course maintenance is rather labour intensive Margaret but the girls sure looked happy to see you all. The giraffes are just gorgeous and they seem such friendly animals but probably best to take care. Nice post again.

  25. Great shots of Africa. That last photo took me by surprise and to me, it was a little too close. They built that first fence so high that they needed to add to the bottom of it.

  27. Margaret, this is just wonderful. What a thrill for you to come so close to animals in the wild. I love the last shot of the Giraffe and his/her furry horns. I look forward to seeing more. Isn't it wonderful the way the local people are so friendly and accepting of your presence in their lives. Your fence is cool too ... Your posts are so fun and informative ... I hope you realize that I often read them and am unable to comment because I seem always to be on the fly. Enjoy them all ...

  28. I love the heart shapes on the first fence. :) Very wise of Daniel and Annika to not want to turn their backs on the wildlife. Such dedicated women to pull weeds on a hot day! Wonderful series from your safari!

  29. What a fun post. I love the "hearts" in the iron work of the fencing. Yep, you get "fenced-in" on those rides (it works). Those kids are so adorable and I love that he was protecting his sister. Great shot of you with the Giraffe in the background and I loved the last shot. Can't wait to see more.

  32. I like that first fence...and I like the all the windows in that building! Interesting shots all the way around and I enjoyed them all!

  33. Well you had a wonderful place in which to be fenced! We saw a very pregnant giraffe once at the San Diego zoo we followed the progress on the zoo's website through the birth. They are such beautiful animals. And how lovely to spend time with the adorable kids at a place like this; perfect!!!

  34. Your last picture is awesome! Both beautiful and hilarious! Love the other shot of both the giraffes. These poor women!!! Someone should buy them a weed puller! I love the first shot of the fence because it is covered with hearts!

  36. I like your 'fenced-in' vehicle. It's amazing that the weeding of the golf course is done by hand by women who work on their hands and knees. I hope they are well paid. I really like your last photo of the giraffe.

  37. Oh what a fun post. The building and the fence are very nice. The fence is really interesting. This looks like it was a great adventure! I love the giraffe at the end saying hello! Thanks for coming by my Fence T is for Trail post! Have a wonderful Friday.

  38. How cool is that! So they let you get out when you were fenced in for youyr ownb protection. That's interesting. Loved the shots of those ladies in their bright clothes. Working so hard in the hot sun, though--NOT fun! Great looking photos of the giraffes, too.
