Butterflies seen on the Isle of Wight

These are some of the Butterflies I saw when I was on the Isle of Wight when I visited Newtown Nature Reserve with my friend Eileen.  She is a volunteer there on Saturday’s for the National Trust.

Gate

Speckled Wood

The following 7 shots are of Comma Butterflies

Anyone know what these insects are?

Large White

Peacock

Just a note about yesterday's post, the photograph was not of me but my friend Eileen and neither of us has a SLR camera.

I hope you enjoyed these Butterfly photographs.

Thank you for visiting and also for leaving comments.

  1. They look like Click Beetles. There are several to choose from. If you poke them and they jump with a click that's what they are.

  2. Good to see the flutters still out and about. The beetles look like black-tailed soldier beetles to me :-)

    2. Yes, I think you are correct Common Red Soldier beetle. These look a bit long and thin but I still think you are right.

  7. Your shots are wonderful!!!! Especially the first three. I also notice that some are colored to blend in with fall leaves. The bugs almost look like lightening bugs, but surely they can't be.
