WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY - Who is lurking in the Newtown Nature Reserve meadow?

I have safely arrived in Malawi having flown to from Northern Ireland to London, then Nairobi, Kenya, Livingstone, Zambia and finally to Blantyre.  Internet is not good here so I will see what I can post while here.  In June, when I was in the I.O.W. my friend Eileen took me to the Newtown Nature Reserve and while we were walking though one of the meadow that was covered with lots of grasses and wild flowers, I spied something move.  These photographs are taken as I took them as I got closer and closer to it.  In the end, it was me who left first, much to my surprise.  Enjoy the sequence of shots and I suggest you put the photographs into slide mode.

Hope you enjoyed the fun of the stalk.

I am linking this post with WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY.

Thank you for visiting today.

Many thanks for leaving comments on any of my posts.

  9. You really got close to that pheasant. Usually they are very shy. The closest I got was when I almost stepped on one that was hiding along the trail. Really startled me! Enjoy your visit and glad to see you have a working camera.

  10. Wow, Margaret, your face shots are superb!!! Is he some kind of Pheasant? Look at your 11th shot, the purple flower behind him makes him look like he has a purple plume on his head! I had to look twice! It couldn't have turned out better if you had planned it that way!

  13. He looks like our Ringnecked Pheasant, but just slightly different ... a little less red on his head. But what ever ... you had to have had fun with this. These are great pictures and I am amazed he was so patient. Our pheasants are very people shy ... mainly because they are hunted mercilessly, I am sorry to say. Love this, Margaret ...
