Rough Rope

Today the first shot is the original and all the rest are edited experiments!  The rope was holding a very large fishing boat at Bangor Pier and the photograph was taken earlier in February this year.  Perhaps you have a favourite?  I think it is time for a cuppa and your thinking hat!

Perhaps you would like to tell me if there is one photo you like better than the other?  I enjoyed playing around with this photograph.

I hope you enjoyed these shots and thank you for visiting my post today.

Many thanks to those who left comments on any of my blogs.

  1. Looks like someone has done an excellent piece of splicing there Margaret.
I prefer the original shot the best (maybe clone out the bottom right corner) followed by #9...[;o)

    1. hi. Trevor. glad you liked the first one. now I know nothing another cloning, I do know dolly the sheep was cloned!!!! And as for #9, I am speechless. I have a lot to learn and not enough time. Ustinov in from walking Tilley the puppy on the I.O.W. and it rained on us. Of course now there is sun and blue skies!!! this is worse than looking after a baby, at least a baby will stay put and not chew anything. Another feed is coming up at 10.30 so must get on with the job!

    2. Me too and I'd agree about what I'm assuming The Herald means with the cloning tool in PhotoShop where you could clone a section of the background and get rid of the concrete bit in the corner, making it look like the rest of the background. Sorry - not very eloquently put Margaret!

I remember being taught how to splice like that in the theatre for scenery flying purposes. I haven't done it since.

    1. Hi Carole. thanks for letting me know which one you liked. Funny how things as they are are often best without humans interfering Note to same! Eileen and I took Tilley the pup bird watching yesterday, not easy but she was very good. Start them young, that's what I say. there were a great deal of bird species around however the day was dry and we all enjoyed it.

  7. Margaret, my faves are #1 and #9. One because I love the rope colors and nine because it's similar rope colors but that element of movement like the boat would be moving on the small waves at the dock. In #9 you show that movement.

  11. The first - and the close-up of the knot are my favourites. And that rope has seen some wear. If only it could tell us its tale.

  14. Well now then, you have taken something quite ordinary and turned it into a work of art. It is a hard choice but I do like the last one's effects. Great job on all of them.

  15. I liked the framing of the one before the last as I feek it made it look more artistic.

  16. I liked the one before the last as it cropped out a lot of extraneous rope and I feel that made a more artistic image.
